Felt saves the day
The race week got off to a rocky start when the nice folks at the airport folded my bike’s fork into two pieces. A massive thanks needs to be said to Felt who was able to get me a replacement fork within 24hrs! So thanks everyone from Felt and Huntteri who quickly stepped up to get me what I needed. I would also like to say thanks by giving a tour of the bike I have ridden all year and will ride again on Sunday. I am truly lucky to have a sponsor who provides me with a bike that easily fits into the category of ‘super bikes’.
If the shoe fits...
Starting with the frame size, I fit ideally onto a 56cm Felt IA FRD frame without any significant adjustments. The reach and drop of the aerobars were pretty much set right from the beginning. I ride a pretty aggressive position with a low front end so I was happy to see I could easily fit onto this bike without adjustments. The frame is designed solely for triathlon and details like the storage compartment and geometry make this bike perfect for what I do on race day.
Things that move
The frame is the base for the bike but the components and wheels make the package complete. SRAM has provided me with the trusted and reliable Red groupset. The Zipp clincher 404 and Super9 disc make the bike roll effortlessly combined with the C-Bear ceramic bearings and Michelin Pro4 clinchers. C-Bear has also provided the ceramic bottom bracket and derailleur pullies to complete the moving parts.
In the details
The bike’s technical specs are hard to argue with but I find the final touches are what make it a special bike for me. I have attached to my aerobars, pictures of my kids to give me the extra focus and motivation I need on the long day. I also take pride in racing with the Finnish flag of my adopted home country attached to the frame.
