I never planned on being a professional triathlete. Triathlon found me as social activity to find my way in my new home country of Finland. I have always enjoyed endurance sports so it is of no surprise that I quickly found a competitive fire with triathlon but I never expected to one day call it my job. The progression from hobby triathlete to racing professional events around the world was a slow road with many twists and turns. Eventually I have been lucky enough to find support to race full-time and make a living from it. Turning my hobby into a business has been done with my own footwork, help from friends, family and a few lucky connections. But basically it has been a solo enterprise.

This season that is about to change. Beginning in 2015, I become part of SBR Finland and they stand behind me 100% with financial resources, expert coaching advice from the others on the team, as well as athlete management to help with the business side of being a professional athlete. Part of the reason why SBR Finland wanted to create the Turku Triathlon Weekend was to support athletes like myself who are reaching for the top. So I am very pleased to have this opportunity to raise my triathlon career to the next level.

Our cooperation is a two-way street and I am thrilled to be in the position to offer my support to their training camps and race events as a coach and ‘expert’ adviser. Additionally, I will have the opportunity to share my experiences of training, racing and traveling throughout the year with a series of blogs and updates on the TTW website. It will be a great year and I look forward to work together with the whole team at SBR Finland! Triathlon in Finland is about to take a step up!
